Systems Application of Statistical Techniques for Operational Excellence

Upcoming Course

Course Description

This course covers essential concepts and techniques for operational efficiency and effectiveness in non-deterministic situations. An important feature of the course is emphasis on analysis at the systems level rather than within single problems, as well as recognition and handling of uncertainties in real-world situations. The approach is application-oriented, with minimal  theoretical contents and detailed calculations performed by application software packages. Interactive discussions, quizzes, case studies and class projects will be used for effective learning.

Learning Objectives

This course aims at imparting to the participants important concepts and techniques related to operational excellence, stressing systems-level perspectives and optimal use of resources in the face of variation.

Learning Outcomes

This course integrates up-to-date thinking and tools that no single textbook is able to provide. At the end of the course, the participants would possess the continuity of thoughts that would enable them to use systems and statistical perspectives intelligently in their areas of work.

  • To empower Singapore Citizens (SCs) in their learning and skills development, the Government will create a SkillsFuture Credit for all SCs aged 25 and above. SCs can use the SkillsFuture Credit to deepen their skills in existing fields and to broaden their horizon in areas outside their current fields. Every SC aged 25 and above will receive an initial credit of $500. The Government will make further top-ups to their SkillsFuture Credit at regular intervals. These credits will not expire, but can only be used for education and training initiated by individuals, to offset course fees. Subsequent cohorts of SCs will similarly receive an initial credit of $500 in the year that they turn 25.
